So the question that everyone always asks is to do you like coke or pepsi? I myself am a coca cola drinker I just prefer the taste a whole lot better. So now I saw that Pepsi is coming up with a new advertising campaign which is called "Live For Now". They are trying to change the image of Pepsi to a free spirited cola by showing off new ideas and mock vending machines of sampled products and new marketing concepts. Do you think that this sort of campaign would push Pepsi to the top? I think as a coke fan Coke needs to come up with a new campaign in order to counteract Pepsi's.

I do not necessary think that this campaign will push Pepsi over the top but I would question whether it will make Pepsi more successful or not. Trying to switch a product is always very risky as many consumers do not like change. This goes back to when Coke tried to create a New Coke as a campaign and it failed because people were not willing to change and they liked the old better than the new. I do agree that Coke should create a new campaign in order to counteract Pepsi's campaign as they are highly close in competition and if Pepsi is successful who knows what that could do to Coke's customers and own success.
ReplyDeletePepsi has always had the younger generation in the palm of their hands. I feel like their campaigns and even their product has been geared towards the younger generation. It seems like they always had success, but I wonder after awhile will it become all redundant?
ReplyDeleteI think Coke will remain number one because of their large fan base but Pepsi will probably gain a lot of momentum with this new campaign. As long as people stay loyal with one brand or the other, Coke will probably remain on top. But it wouldn't hurt if Coke came out with a new campaign to counteract Pepsi.
